Jason Pierschbacher has accepted the position of Pleasant View Elementary School principal.

Pierschbacher will replace Keith Miller, who is stepping down at the end of the school year after serving eight years as principal.

Pierschbacher earned both his bachelor’s degree and master’s degree from Austin Peay State University.

He served in the U.S. Army, achieving the rank of sergeant, before joining the Clarksville-Montgomery County School System in 2008.

While with the CMCSS, he taught for five years at Kenwood Middle School (two years of eighth-grade Social Studies and three years of eighth-grade math) and two years at Rossview Middle School (eighth-grade math).

He then served as the assistant principal at Rossview Middle School for two and a half years before being named the assistant principal at Kenwood High School, a position he has held since 2017.

Pierschbacher and his wife, Tiffany, have three children, Jude, Ruth and Luke.

“I am honored to be selected as the new principal. Pleasant View is an amazing place. I look forward to being a part of this great community. It is a blessing in my life. I am excited for the coming school year,” he said.

Pleasant View Elementary School Principal Keith Miller announced Thursday that he is stepping down at the end of the 2018-2019 school year.

Miller plans to go back to the classroom to resume his love of teaching.

Miller has worked in the Cheatham County School District for 22 years. He taught at Sycamore Middle School, was the district Technology Integration Specialist and served as an assistant principal at Cheatham County Central High School and Cheatham Middle School before being named the PVES principal in 2011.

“The faculty, families, community and students have meant a great deal to me in my eight years at Pleasant View Elementary School, and I’m extremely proud of everything that we’ve accomplished.  I will be returning to the classroom to get back to teaching; while teaching has its own time requirements, I am hoping that this will free up some time that I can use to finish my doctorate and to spend more time with my family. My children are getting older far too quickly and I want to have time with them while they are still young. I will miss everyone at Pleasant View Elementary, but I know that the community, families and teachers will continue to work together to do great things for the students,” he said.

The district is surveying the Pleasant View staff and parents to help determine the top qualities they believe the new principal should have.

The students of Pleasant View Elementary School will host the inaugural community wide My School Color Run on Saturday, Nov. 4 at 9 a.m. to raise money for their school.

The My School Color Run is an untimed 3K fun run for all ages and fitness abilities.

Along the route, participants pass through vibrant color zones, making it a “colorful experience.”

Additionally, each pre-registered participant is provided with a single powder color packet that will be thrown in the air at the final color celebration at the finish line.

“Rather than sell goods, we want to engage the entire student body in a fitness initiative that aims to encourage a lifelong healthy way of living,” said organizers Jenny Alverson and Amy Whitworth.

Participants that register by Friday, Oct. 20 will receive a T-shirt, race bib and individual color packet.

You can sign up for the run by visiting PVESmscr.eventbrite.com or by completing a paper registration form.

Business sponsorship opportunities are also available. For more information about sponsorships, contact Alverson or Whitworth at 615-746-5031.
