Hooper named CCCHS academic specialist

The Cheatham County School District has named David Hooper as the new academic specialist at Cheatham County Central High School.
 
Hooper is currently serving as an RTI Interventionist at CCCHS.
 
Hooper will replace Kristian Dennison, who will be the new academic specialist at Harpeth Middle School.
 
Hooper served as an inclusion teacher at West Creek High School in Clarksville before joining the CCSD in 2012.
 
Since joining the CCSD, he has served as a U.S History/criminal justice teacher at Sycamore High School, Dean of Students at Cheatham Middle School and as the Assistant Principal at Cheatham Middle School.
 
“I am excited to continue my service at Cheatham County Central High School. Kristian has done amazing work and laid a strong foundation at CCCHS. I am very fortunate to be able to work with and serve the faculty and staff at CCCHS and I look forward to doing so in my new capacity,” he said.

Cooper named academic specialist at KSES, PES

The Cheatham County School District has named Chris Cooper as the new academic specialist at both Kingston Springs Elementary School and Pegram Elementary School.

Cooper has served as the band director at Harpeth Middle School since 2014.

The two South Cheatham schools will share an academic specialist in the 2019-2020 school year.

Cooper has been in the education field for 25 years, including five years in Cheatham County and 10 years in Williamson County. 

Prior to his work in Williamson County, Cooper taught at Vanderbilt University and served as a graduate teaching assistant at the University of Louisville and the University of Georgia.

“I am very excited about my new role. I look forward to the amazing opportunities working with the talented faculties at these two schools,” he said.

In particular, Cooper said he is excited to be a part of the new arts integration program at PES.

“I have had an instrument in my hands since fourth grade and this transition took a great deal of consideration. I believe that this opportunity is the path to being a stronger teacher and sharing the many lessons from my mentors with others. I am particularly excited about working in the elementary schools, truly rounding out my K-post graduate experience in education. I look forward to collaborating and learning with a new team of educators and am excited about the growth it offers,” he added.

Winstead named KSES principal

The Cheatham County School District has named Lucas Winstead as the new Kingston Springs Elementary School principal.
 
Winstead will replace Dawn Wenning, who will become the principal at Sycamore High School.
 
Winstead, who has been a data analyst for the Tennessee Department of Education since July 2015, previously served as the principal of Harpeth Middle School from July 2012-June 2015.
 
He began his education career as a teacher at William James Middle School in White Bluff. After six years in the classroom, he was named the school’s assistant principal, a position he held for one year before taking the HMS job.
 
Winstead earned his bachelor’s degree from Belmont University and master’s degree in education from Tennessee State University. He is currently pursuing his doctorate of education degree from East Tennessee State University and anticipates graduating in December.
 
Winstead and his wife, Sarah, have two children, Grayson and Audrey.
 
“It is an honor and a privilege to rejoin the CCSD. I am excited about working with the teachers, students, parents, and the community of Kingston Springs as we continue to pursue excellence for our children,” he said.

Pierschbacher named new PVES principal

Jason Pierschbacher has accepted the position of Pleasant View Elementary School principal.
 
Pierschbacher will replace Keith Miller, who is stepping down at the end of the school year after serving eight years as principal.
 
Pierschbacher earned both his bachelor’s degree and master’s degree from Austin Peay State University.
 
He served in the U.S. Army, achieving the rank of sergeant, before joining the Clarksville-Montgomery County School System in 2008.
 
While with the CMCSS, he taught for five years at Kenwood Middle School (two years of eighth-grade Social Studies and three years of eighth-grade math) and two years at Rossview Middle School (eighth-grade math).
 
He then served as the assistant principal at Rossview Middle School for two and a half years before being named the assistant principal at Kenwood High School, a position he has held since 2017.
 
Pierschbacher and his wife, Tiffany, have three children, Jude, Ruth and Luke.
 
“I am honored to be selected as the new principal. Pleasant View is an amazing place. I look forward to being a part of this great community. It is a blessing in my life. I am excited for the coming school year,” he said.

SHS students selected for Frist art exhibit

The artwork of two Sycamore High School students - Jacob Balthrop and Logan Seibert – will be featured in an exhibition titled “Teens Take the Frist” at the Frist Art Museum in Nashville.

A jury of Frist Art Museum curators and educators selected 100 pieces of art to be featured in the exhibition, will runs from July 13-Sept. 21.

Teens from Cheatham, Davidson, Robertson, Rutherford, Sumner, Williamson and Wilson counties were invited to submit entries for the exhibition.

An opening reception featuring the teen artists will be held Saturday, July 13 from 1-4 at the museum.​

Fowler named new HMS principal

The Cheatham County School District has named Dr. Audra Fowler as the new principal at Harpeth Middle School.
 
Fowler, the academic specialist at Kingston Springs Elementary School, will replace Ryan Philipp, who will become the academic specialist at Harpeth High School.
 
Fowler began her Cheatham County teaching career in 2008 at Sycamore Middle School, where she taught eighth-grade Social Studies.
 
She also taught eighth-grade Social Studies at Cheatham Middle School and served as the Dean of Students at Cheatham County Central High School before joining the KSES staff this year.
 
A 2003 graduate of Harpeth High School, Fowler majored in History, minored in Education and received her teacher certification at Belmont University, earning a Bachelor of Science degree. She also received a Master of Arts in Teaching from Belmont.
 
In May 2018, she earned her Doctorate of Education in Educational Leadership from Carson Newman University.
 
"I am so excited and grateful to serve HMS students, teachers and parents. It is truly an honor and privilege to be a part of the HMS family,” Fowler said.
