The popular event will feature guest speaker Woody Hunt, the head baseball coach at Cumberland University. Hunt has devoted 39 years to Cumberland's baseball program, with 36 years as head coach. His head coaching record is 1,503-665-5. He has the most wins of any active coach in NAIA, and he is one of six coaches to ever record 1,000 victories in NAIA.
The Cumberland baseball team has appeared in 12 NAIA World Series, including six in the last 12 seasons, claiming national championships in 2004, 2010 and 2014 as well as runner-up finishes in 1995 and 2006. Hunt's son, Ryan Hunt, is the head baseball coach at Volunteer State Community College, which currently has three former War Eagle Baseball players on his team. Festivities will begin at 5 p.m. In addition to the steak dinner and Hunt’s speech at 5:45 p.m., there will be a live and silent auction. Tickets can be purchased in advance. However, tickets can be purchased at the door, too.
If you would like to purchase a ticket, see a Sycamore baseball player or e-mail War Eagles coach Daniel Smiley at [email protected].
