“This is year one of a five-year plan for growth and development. We would love as much support as we can get and having the community by our side is important to the students and staff,” Holt said.
This is the first teaching position for Holt, a 2011 graduate of Milan High School and 2016 graduate of Bethel University. However, she’s served as an assistant band director at West Carroll Junior Senior High School in West Tennessee for six years.
The theme of this year’s show is “The Fire Within” and the story revolves around each person’s individual fire or passion.
Holt said the goal for the season is to implement structure, discipline and a newfound confidence in the students and program.
“I use a lot of teaching techniques that I’ve observed throughout the country that the most successful programs use. By taking the students back to the basics and focusing on individual abilities we will see immediate exponential growth that will continue throughout the duration of my time as the director,” she said.
Holt is being assisted by Nathaniel Hudson (assistant band director), Ryan Ramsey (assistant band director and Cheatham Middle School band director), Rachel Collins (guard director and inclusion teacher), Anthony Hall (technician), Kris Justice (drumline instructor) and Lindsey Vincent (percussion instructor).
