Hamblin replaces Raymond Bass, who recently resigned.
“Steve has an impeccable reputation as a coach and came highly recommended. We are excited that a coach with his vast experience will continue to build on our great wrestling tradition at Sycamore,” said SHS Principal Dr. Amy McWhirter.
Hamblin brings a wealth of experience with him to the position.
He served as the Sycamore wrestling coach from 2009-2012 and was an assistant coach at Clarksville High School for one year before starting the wrestling program at Goodpasture in 2014 and the school’s youth program in 2015.
Hamblin, an All-State high school wrestler in Michigan, operated a successful youth wrestling program, Team Hamblin, from 2008-2013.
Under his leadership, he has produced a number of All-Americans on both the high school and youth levels.
Additionally, he has coached two youth national champs and a high school national champ and state champ.
“I am grateful to have an opportunity to work with local kids at all levels. I’m looking forward to expand on Sycamore’s solid foundation,” Hamblin said.
