Wrestlers qualify for state tournament

The region tournament was held at Fairview this weekend resulting in 19 Cheatham County wrestlers qualifying for the state tournament next week.

• The following wrestlers are region champions:
Taylor Turner, Harpeth High School, 106 pounds
Dylan Davenport, Sycamore High School, 126 pounds
Logan Heckert, Sycamore High School, 132 pounds
Luke London, Sycamore High School, 138 pounds
Daniel White, Cheatham County Central High School, 152 pounds
Cooper Edwards, Harpeth High School, 170 pounds

• 2nd place medals include:
Payton Boyde, Harpeth High School, 120 pounds
Mark Helser, Sycamore High School, 145 pounds
Landon Morris, Cheatham County Central High School, 195 pounds
Evan Dixon, Sycamore High School, 220 pounds
Ariel Rojas-Avila, Sycamore High School, 285 pounds

• 3rd place medals include:
Trey Moreland, Sycamore High School, 106 pounds
Dakota Delang, Harpeth High School, 132 pounds

Other highlights from the region tournament: Sycamore won second place for the overall tournament team and Harpeth placed fourth and Harpeth’s Cooper Edwards’ 170-pound match against White House Heritage won best match.

On the girls side, Amanda Thomason of Cheatham County Central High School finished first in her weight class (112 pounds) and also qualified for the state tournament.
